ByteDance merges TraeWork and TraeCode into unified TRAE platform
ByteDance has combined its office AI agent TraeWork and coding tool TraeCode into a unified TRAE platform. The update integrates task planning, content creation, and software development into a single application.

Chinese technology company ByteDance has merged its office AI agent TraeWork and its coding tool TraeCode into a unified platform named TRAE. This consolidation aims to bring task planning, content creation, and software development capabilities into one application.
The newly unified platform allows users to switch between an "Agent mode" for managing tasks across projects and an "IDE mode" for detailed coding and debugging. Announced on October 9, the TRAE platform supports access across desktop, web, and mobile devices. This enables users to start tasks on a computer and monitor progress or add instructions from a phone.
Existing TraeWork users can migrate their chat history, account information, and local data through an in-app upgrade. The standalone TraeWork service is scheduled to shut down on October 23. The integration is expected to streamline workflows for users previously utilizing the separate tools.
