ByteDance's foundation model division, Seed, has reportedly completed a new round of internal restructuring. The foundation-model team has been reorganized into four new first-level departments: Pretrain Data, Horizon RL, Product Posttrain-Work, and Product Posttrain-Chat.
The Product Posttrain-Work team will focus on business applications and agentic capabilities for products such as Doubao and Dola. Meanwhile, the Product Posttrain-Chat team will handle consumer-facing dialogue models.
This restructuring occurs amid separate reports suggesting ByteDance is discussing a foundation model with over 5 trillion parameters. However, this plan is said to be in its early stages and has not been officially announced as a product.
The move signals ByteDance's continued investment in artificial intelligence, aiming to enhance its existing product offerings and explore new AI-driven capabilities.
