ByteDance reportedly plans standalone cloud drive ADrive
Chinese technology giant ByteDance is reportedly preparing to launch a standalone intelligent cloud drive named ADrive in September. The service, built by Volcano Engine, is designed for collaboration between AI agents and human users.
ByteDance, the Chinese technology conglomerate, is reportedly working on a new cloud-based storage and collaboration service called ADrive, slated for a September launch. The product is being developed by Volcano Engine, ByteDance's enterprise technology arm.
ADrive is designed to facilitate collaboration between artificial intelligence agents and human users. Its features reportedly include natural language and image search capabilities, document summarization, text rewriting, translation, and multi-document question-and-answer functions. The service also offers file conversion and optical character recognition (OCR).
Security features are also a key component, with plans for password-protected sharing, expiration settings for shared files, and access controls for both internal and external networks. Activity logs will reportedly be maintained.
Initial trial applications for ADrive are said to be open, suggesting the company is moving towards a wider release. This move by ByteDance aims to integrate advanced AI capabilities with conventional cloud storage and teamwork tools.
