ByteDance, Tencent Accelerate Personal AI Agent Development Following Meta Muse
Chinese tech firms ByteDance and Tencent are reportedly speeding up the development of personal AI agents in response to Meta's Muse product. The move signals a push to broaden AI capabilities for managing daily user tasks.
Chinese technology giants ByteDance and Tencent are reportedly accelerating their development of personal AI agents, a direct response to Meta's recent launch of its Muse product. These AI agents aim to assist users with a variety of everyday tasks.
ByteDance has been intensifying efforts on its personal AI agent project, codenamed "Spell," which began in April. This initiative builds upon the company's earlier work in personal agent technology. The company plans to integrate the "Spell" project with its Doubao product for a swift public release.
Tencent, meanwhile, launched its personal AI agent product, LightVela, at the end of September. Marketed as a "cloud-based personal assistant," it can be accessed via WeChat and is designed to help users with daily requests.
Meta introduced its Muse product on September 8th. The agent can perform tasks such as sending emails and booking travel, with user authorization, by accessing data across various applications. Meta views Muse as a critical step towards "personal superintelligence."
