ByteDance's Doubao Imposes 12% Service Fee on Hotel Bookings
ByteDance's Doubao has begun applying a 12% service fee to hotel bookings made through its channel on the Douyin local services platform. The policy took effect on August 10.

ByteDance's Doubao service is now charging a 12% fee for hotel bookings processed via its channel on the Douyin local services platform. This new fee structure, effective August 10, comprises an 11.4% software service fee and a 0.6% payment fee.
The charges apply to hotel reservations completed through Doubao's integrated channel on Douyin. Doubao, ByteDance's consumer AI assistant, is expanding its functionality beyond providing information and recommendations to facilitating actual transactions.
This move signifies Doubao's strategic shift towards monetizing its platform by directly participating in the transaction process for local services, including accommodation bookings. The company aims to leverage its user base on Douyin for transactional revenue.
