ByteDance's Doubao Phone Assistant launches consumer version

ByteDance's Doubao Phone Assistant has launched a consumer-facing version of its AI assistant. The update includes screen-based question-and-answer capabilities, local search functionality across photos, messages, and notes, and supports voice activation and a dedicated AI key.

The product is also introducing a beta version of its "operate phone" feature. This functionality utilizes the SAEP protocol, allowing third-party apps to define boundaries for AI-driven screen automation. Doubao stated it will adhere to app rejections of such operations.

The initial consumer release will be available on the nubia NaviX Ultra, which is scheduled for release on September 16. This move aims to broaden the accessibility of advanced AI mobile assistance.
