Cadiz and RIC Energy Expand Solar and Hydrogen Development Collaboration

Cadiz, Inc. and RIC Energy have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to further expand their collaboration on green hydrogen development. The new agreement includes the addition of on-site solar power generation facilities to support Cadiz's agricultural operations in the Mojave Desert, California.

The MOU builds upon the companies' initial collaboration launched in October 2024, which focused on green hydrogen production at Cadiz Ranch. Under the revised understanding, RIC Energy will develop solar facilities to power Cadiz's agricultural activities, replacing fossil fuels. The companies will also continue to advance plans for hydrogen production facilities and related infrastructure at the Cadiz Ranch site.

Furthermore, the agreement establishes a framework to evaluate and potentially construct hydrogen transportation infrastructure, including pipelines. These plans would utilize Cadiz's existing 220-mile Northern Pipeline corridor and other rights-of-way, aiming to deliver hydrogen to regional markets and external customers in the future.

Susan Kennedy, Chairman and CEO of Cadiz, highlighted that the partnership with RIC Energy demonstrates how renewable energy and low-carbon fuels can support water infrastructure. Jonathan Rappe, CEO of RIC Energy North America, added that the initiative extends beyond traditional solar and battery storage, integrating a renewable energy platform with the evolving hydrogen economy.
