California Lawyers Foundation Establishes First High School Law Academy in San Francisco

The California Lawyers Foundation (CLF) has established its first California Legal Pathways Collaborative (CLPC) Law Academy in San Francisco through a partnership with Balboa High School. The initiative is designed to provide high school students with early exposure to the legal profession, encourage legal studies, and foster potential career paths in law.

The academy will offer students coursework, guest lectures from attorneys and legal professionals, and opportunities for internships and mentorship. The program also seeks to enhance diversity within the legal field by creating pathways for students who might not otherwise consider a legal career.

This San Francisco academy marks the CLPC's first establishment in the city and expands CLF's commitment to promoting legal education across California. The foundation has previously supported similar programs in other parts of the state.

Balboa High School was selected as a partner for its dedication to offering diverse educational programs to its students and its location within the San Francisco Unified School District. The academy is slated to begin operations at the start of the upcoming academic year, with applications expected to open in the coming months.
