California Science Center to open Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center in November 2026

The California Science Center in Los Angeles has scheduled the public opening of the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center for November 13, 2026. This expansion project establishes a permanent, purpose-built facility to house the Space Shuttle Endeavour.

The new center features 100 interactive exhibits designed to explain the mechanics of flight and space exploration. A primary highlight of the facility is the vertical display of Endeavour, which allows the public to view the shuttle in a full launch-ready configuration—a unique installation that distinguishes the site from other aerospace museums.

This expansion represents a significant development for regional science education and tourism. The engineering efforts required to house the shuttle in a vertical position have been a focal point of the construction project, which has been in development for several years.
