Calyxt Appoints Jim Blome as Chief Executive Officer
Calyxt, Inc., with Cellectis SA as an investor, has appointed Jim Blome, former President and CEO of Bayer CropScience LP (North America), as its Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2018.
Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. and New York, NY – September 18, 2018 – Calyxt, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLXT) and Cellectis SA (NASDAQ: CLLS - EURONEXT GROWTH: ALCLS) announced today the appointment of James A. Blome as Chief Executive Officer of Calyxt, effective October 1, 2018. Blome is the former President and CEO of Bayer CropScience LP (North America).
Blome will work closely with the company's board of directors to advance the development of its consumer-focused food products. This includes the commercial launch of the company's first product, a high-oleic soybean oil.
Jim Blome has over 25 years of experience in the agricultural sector. He has previously led teams and developed strategies centered on consumer needs in crop development, aiming to better meet consumer demands and maximize market share growth.
Calyxt is a plant-based technology company that uses gene editing to develop and commercialize improved food products. The company's technology enables the increase of specific fatty acid concentrations, such as oleic acid, in crops.
