Camden Town Women’s FC, a tier-six football club, has successfully raised £138,000 from its fans through the Republic Europe equity crowdfunding platform. The funding round, which had a target of £50,002, exceeded expectations by 272% and closed on September 23, 2026, valuing the club at £480,000.
This marks a significant milestone, as Camden Town WFC becomes the first women's football club to conduct a fan investment seed round on Republic Europe. The platform has previously supported several men's clubs, including AFC Wimbledon and Altrincham, facilitating over £10 million in funding from more than 11,000 investors since 2019.
"The success of this investment round sends a powerful message about the appetite to be part of the future of Camden Town WFC. People aren't simply backing a football club, they’re investing in an ambition, a community and in what we believe can become a genuinely important club in the women’s game," said Camden Town WFC chairman Richard Mahoney. He added that the investment will allow the club to strengthen its foundations and build the necessary infrastructure for advancement.
Over the past six years, Camden Town WFC has evolved from a park football side with no dedicated ground to winning three promotions and the 2024/25 league and cup double. The club now has over 98 shareholders, with individual investments starting as low as £24. The club is targeting promotion to the Women's National League within three seasons and a potential pathway to the Women's Super League in five to six years.
