Can War Revive Europe's Technology Sector?

Europe's technological advancement has fallen behind that of the United States and China, particularly in fields like artificial intelligence and cloud services. Major US companies dominate the market, leaving European players struggling to compete.

Investment capital is not flowing into European tech companies at a scale sufficient to maintain competitiveness. While European firms, such as France's Mistral AI, are raising significant funds, these amounts fall short of the investment seen in the US tech sector.

Historically, warfare has often acted as a catalyst for technological progress. Innovations that emerged during World War II, including atomic energy and jet propulsion, have given rise to new industries.

In the current climate, Europe has both an opportunity and an obligation to invest in defense technology. Applications of emerging defense technologies, such as autonomous systems and advanced sensors, could form the foundation for future economic growth and revive Europe's technological standing.
