Canada Nickel Receives $20 Million Investment from First Nations
Canada Nickel has secured a $20 million investment from two First Nations communities in Northern Ontario, marking a historic commitment to the company's Crawford nickel project.

Canada Nickel Company Inc. (TSXV: CNC) has announced a $20 million investment from two First Nations communities in Northern Ontario: Fort William First Nation and Red Rock Indian Band. The funding is earmarked for the development of the company's Crawford nickel project, located near Thunder Bay, Ontario.
This investment represents a significant step towards project financing for Crawford, which is described as one of the world's largest nickel-sulfide deposits. The project has the potential to yield nickel, cobalt, and other metals crucial for the production of electric vehicle batteries.
The investment is notable as one of the largest made by First Nations into a Canadian mining project, signifying growing indigenous participation and ownership in resource development.
Canada Nickel also stated that it is actively working to integrate Indigenous communities into its sustainable development strategy and ensure they benefit economically and socially from the project, building on an existing pilot program initiated in January 2023.
