Canadian Vendasta Helps Small Businesses Save Time with AI

Saskatoon-based technology firm Vendasta offers AI-powered tools designed to help small businesses across Canada automate time-consuming routine tasks, enhance customer service, and boost productivity.

The company aims to make AI accessible and affordable for small enterprises. According to Vendasta CEO Brendan King, AI can serve as a virtual assistant for small business owners, handling tasks such as responding to customer inquiries, booking appointments, and managing social media content.

Founded in 2008, Vendasta previously focused on helping local businesses establish an online presence and manage customer communication. Following the rise of generative AI in 2022, the company pivoted to concentrate on leveraging AI for time-saving solutions.

The company often operates through channel partners, such as digital marketing agencies, who offer Vendasta's software under their own brands. BDC (Business Development Bank of Canada) has been an early investor in Vendasta since 2013.

The primary barrier to AI adoption for many small businesses remains trust. Vendasta seeks to build confidence by demonstrating how the technology can perform tasks seamlessly in the background, allowing business owners to focus on customer relationships and strategic development.
