Specifications for the upcoming Canon EOS R8 Mark II camera have surfaced, indicating a potential release in early September. The camera is expected to feature a 32.5-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. Reports suggest it will include five-axis in-body image stabilization.
The new model will reportedly omit the mechanical shutter entirely, relying on an electronic shutter that enables continuous shooting speeds of up to 40 frames per second. Additionally, the camera is said to offer dual SD card slots and support for 4K video recording. However, details regarding its external design and physical appearance are not yet available, with spy shots anticipated in about a month.
The EOS R8 Mark II is expected to maintain a clear distinction from the EOS R6 Mark III, likely excluding advanced features such as pre-shooting functionality, full-shutter video recording, and high-speed communication protocols. The inclusion of five-axis stabilization, however, is noted as a surprising addition for the EOS R8 series.
