Canon reports quarterly profit growth amid revised annual forecast
Canon saw a 12.2% increase in net profit for the third quarter of 2026, but the company has lowered its full-year earnings expectations.

Canon released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, reporting a net profit attributable to the parent company of 246.41 billion yen, a 12.2% rise compared to the previous year. Cumulative revenue for the first nine months of the year reached 3.43 trillion yen, representing a 4% year-on-year increase.
The company’s imaging segment drove growth, posting a 16.7% revenue increase. In contrast, the medical and industrial segments saw declines of 1.2% and 10.7%, respectively. Financial results were also impacted by a policy change in depreciation methods enacted at the start of the year, which bolstered net profit by 14.44 billion yen.
While the company maintained a gross margin of 48.5%, management adjusted its full-year outlook downward. The projected revenue for 2026 was reduced by 34 billion yen to 4.766 trillion yen, citing shifting market conditions.
Canon reaffirmed its intention to maintain an annual dividend of 160 yen per share, consistent with its target payout ratio of approximately 40%.
