Canton Fair Highlights Smart Living and Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing

The first phase of the 140th Canton Fair, themed "Advanced Manufacturing," opened on October 15 and runs through October 19 in Guangzhou, China. The consumer electronics and information products zone is serving as a showcase for the latest achievements in China's manufacturing and technology sectors.

A significant focus is placed on smart living solutions designed to support healthier, safer, and more independent lifestyles. Examples include wearable health monitoring devices, such as glucose meters, and AI-powered assistive devices for mobility training and rehabilitation. For home care and elder support, companion robots, electric care beds, and hyperbaric oxygen chambers for home use are on display.

The service robot zone is also a major attraction, featuring a humanoid robot approximately 70–80 cm tall that demonstrates agile movements and interactive capabilities. The manufacturer has overcome challenges in developing compact joint modules and modular designs, enabling remarkable agility and potential for future applications.

Advancements in artificial intelligence, perception technology, and motion control are evident across the service robot section, with exhibits ranging from fully humanoid robots and dexterous robotic hands to wheeled robots. For industrial and emergency environments, robotic inspection systems, pipeline maintenance robots, and underwater propulsion robots are presented.

Additionally, the fair includes robots for commercial services, such as reception and facade cleaning robots, alongside automated coffee kiosks. Home applications feature wearable exoskeletons, robotic lawnmowers, and educational robots. These exhibits collectively illustrate the acceleration of China's robotics industry from technological innovation to widespread commercialization.
