Canton Strategic Holdings Executes First Tokenized U.S. Equity Trades

Canton Strategic Holdings has completed the first tokenized share transactions under the SEC’s innovation exemption on the Canton Network.

4 November 2026

Canton Strategic Holdings has finalized the first trades of issuer-sponsored tokenized common stock under the regulatory framework established by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in September. The transactions took place on TSV, a permissioned trading venue utilizing the Canton Network, marking a shift in how U.S. equities can be managed and traded on-chain.

The trade involved Five North as the seller, DRW Cumberland as the buyer, and Flowdesk acting as the liquidity provider. Fairmint, the company's SEC-registered transfer agent, facilitated the tokenization process, moving ownership records onto the network. Officials state that these digital tokens retain the same rights and privileges as shares traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Access to the trading pool is restricted to verified participants who have undergone identity and sanctions screening. The system is designed to provide 24/7 trading capabilities with atomic settlement, intended to reduce counterparty risk and operational friction compared to traditional clearing cycles.

Canton Strategic Holdings CEO Mark Wendland described the trades as a benchmark for institutional market readiness. The project aims to provide public companies with a path to bring shares on-chain while maintaining compliance and control over the transfer process.
