Canva launches AI website builder for all users
Canva has launched Code 2.0, an AI-powered tool that enables users to build interactive websites and apps using plain language prompts. The feature is now available to all users, including those on free accounts.
Canva announced on Tuesday the launch of Code 2.0, a significant upgrade to its AI-driven coding tool. The new capability allows users to create interactive websites, apps, and digital experiences by entering prompts in natural language, with the output being as easy to edit as a standard Canva presentation.
This feature is now accessible to all of Canva's over 265 million monthly users across all subscription tiers, including its free accounts. This move represents Canva's most substantial push into the rapidly expanding "vibe coding" market, a sector that has recently emerged and is altering how non-developers approach software creation.
The updated tool introduces several enhancements aimed at streamlining the process from code generation to the publication of a polished interactive experience. Users can now initiate Canva Code projects directly within other design projects, embedding interactive elements into presentations, whiteboards, or standalone pages. Additionally, Canva has introduced over 50 new templates specifically for interactive designs and added support for importing raw HTML files from other AI coding tools, converting them into editable Canva designs.
Canva Code 2.0 also features an improved editing experience. Unlike many AI coding platforms that require code modification for visual changes, Canva Code 2.0 allows direct manipulation of generated elements. Users can change text, drag and drop images from Canva's extensive library, adjust colors and fonts via a familiar toolbar, or refine elements using conversational AI. All generated websites are fully interactive and automatically adapt to various screen sizes.
