Capcom announced on October 15 that a prologue demo for its title "Monster Hunter Wilds" will be available for the Nintendo Switch 2 starting October 20. The demo can be downloaded for free from the Switch 2's eShop. The full game is scheduled to be released on December 4, with digital pre-orders opening on the same day.

The content of the Switch 2 demo version will be largely identical to the existing prologue demos available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Players will be able to use the full character creation features and play through the opening story until the completion of the "Journey to the Forest" quest. Similar to the prologue demos on other platforms, the Switch 2 version will not support online multiplayer, a feature that will only be accessible in the full game.

Game producer Ryozo Tsujimoto stated that releasing "Monster Hunter Wilds" on the Switch 2 continues the series' tradition on handheld platforms in Japan and addresses player desires for accessible co-op gameplay. Tsujimoto explained that the Switch 2 facilitates a similar co-op experience as previous handheld consoles, either through local wireless connectivity or by leveraging cross-platform play.

The full version of "Monster Hunter Wilds" will be released on December 4. Players will be able to transfer their save data from the demo to the full game. Capcom highlighted that while the Switch 2 can connect to a television, it remains fundamentally a portable gaming device, allowing for flexible gameplay in various settings.
