Car owners consider damage repair important, survey finds

Car owners are aware of the importance of addressing vehicle damage, as indicated by the latest KÜS Trend-Tacho survey. The study highlights varied preferences regarding where repairs should be carried out following an accident.

A significant majority of respondents, 87 percent, perceive independent repair shops as more cost-effective compared to authorized dealerships. Furthermore, 88 percent of car owners consider the quality of work from both types of workshops to be equivalent.

For minor accident repairs, independent workshops emerge as the preferred choice for 84 percent of drivers. However, when dealing with larger, more significant damages, 63 percent of customers favor their authorized dealership for vehicle restoration.

The aesthetic condition of a vehicle is also a high priority, with 74 percent of participants stating that the clean and well-maintained appearance of their car is very important. This sentiment extends to repair services, as 66 percent value a car wash as part of the overall service. Interestingly, 63 percent of respondents view the repair of minor dents as avoidable.

KÜS General Manager Peter Schuler commented that the survey highlights drivers' awareness of vehicle safety, noting that even seemingly minor damages can compromise safety and should be addressed. The survey was conducted in August 2024 with 1,000 participants.
