According to a new JD Power survey, car owners most appreciate automotive technologies that operate seamlessly in the background without constant attention, unlike large screens and complex software.
Car owners increasingly favor technology that operates seamlessly without requiring constant user interaction, according to the latest technology survey from JD Power. Consumers are reportedly growing tired of large screens and glitchy software in new vehicles.
The survey polled 68,084 owners of new 2026 model-year vehicles after 90 days of ownership. It covered 40 different automotive technologies, ranging from comfort and convenience to driver assistance systems and electric vehicles.
Technologies that received the highest ratings were those deemed inconspicuous and integrated into the vehicle's functions. These included features like automatic climate control and stability management systems.
The findings suggest that automakers should prioritize user-friendly and reliable technologies that enhance the driving experience without demanding continuous attention or complex operation. Large touchscreens and intricate interfaces were noted as points of frustration.
