Carbios and Sleever launch home-compostable shrink sleeve
Carbios, a developer of bio-based solutions, and packaging company Sleever have co-developed SEELCAP® ONEGO, the first home-compostable, biodegradable tamper-evident shrink sleeve for small packaging.

Carbios, a French company specializing in bio-based solutions, has partnered with Sleever, a packaging specialist, to develop SEELCAP® ONEGO. This product is identified as the first home-compostable and biodegradable tamper-evident shrink sleeve for packaging. The innovation aims to address the environmental challenge posed by small, difficult-to-recycle plastic components that often end up as waste.
SEELCAP® ONEGO is designed to ensure product safety through tamper evidence while reducing plastic waste. The sleeve reportedly disintegrates completely in less than six months under home composting conditions, even at room temperature. Sleever reports that this solution can achieve up to a 45% reduction in carbon footprint compared to conventional alternatives.
The technology from Carbios, known as Carbios Active, is central to this new product. Carbios has obtained TUV Austria certification for home compostability, validating the product's biodegradability. The company has previously announced its focus on developing solutions to reduce plastic waste within various industries.
The new shrink sleeve is intended to provide brands with an accessible solution that is compatible with existing industrial processes. This collaboration highlights the commitment of both companies to advancing sustainable packaging alternatives.
