Carbios Confirms Longlaville Plant Construction Amid Financing Progress

French biotechnology company Carbios has confirmed its intention to proceed with the construction of its industrial plastic recycling plant in Longlaville. The company announced significant progress in structuring the project's financing, aiming to finalize the funding arrangements by the third quarter of 2026. Production is anticipated to commence in the first half of 2028, subject to the finalization of the project.

Carbios reported a solid cash position of approximately €60 million as of the end of December 2025, which is expected to cover operating expenses for more than the next 12 months. The estimated construction cost for the Longlaville plant is €230 million. This includes €42.5 million in previously confirmed public funding. The remaining financing is planned to come from debt from partner banks, equity contributions from several French partners, and Carbios' own equity and in-kind contributions.

The company aims to conclude the various components of this financing in the coming weeks. Under the proposed structure, Carbios would become a minority shareholder, with the project entity's debt and financial results not consolidated onto Carbios' balance sheet. Supported by an increasing French and European regulatory framework for chemical recycling, Carbios is confident in its ability to secure new pre-sale contracts and reach 70% of the plant's future production capacity shortly.

To support the execution of its strategic development projects, including the Longlaville plant and its partnership with Wankai, the Board of Directors has appointed Benoît Grenot as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Grenot is expected to play a key role in finalizing the remaining financing steps and ensuring the long-term success of strategic partnerships.
