Carbios supports French government push for energy transition legislation
French green chemistry firm Carbios has backed Prime Minister Manuel Valls' pledge to prioritize national energy transition legislation.

Carbios, a developer of technologies for plastic waste recycling and biopolymer production, has welcomed the French government's commitment to expedite legislation focused on energy transition. Prime Minister Manuel Valls recently identified the sector as a priority, aiming to stimulate economic growth while addressing environmental targets.
The government has set a goal to reduce reliance on fossil fuels by 30% by 2030. Jean-Claude Lumaret, CEO of Carbios, stated that the company’s focus on converting petrochemical waste into reusable raw materials aligns with these broader national objectives. The company notes that of the 25 million tons of plastic waste produced annually in Europe, only 20% is currently recycled.
Carbios estimates that there is a global market opportunity of approximately $100 billion in recoverable plastic resources. The company remains positioned to scale its operations as France prepares to finalize its regulatory framework for the energy sector later this year.
