CARE Report Identifies 10 Least Noted Crises of 2025

CARE Deutschland is scheduled to hold an online press briefing on January 27 to present the key findings of its "CARE Crisis Report 2025." The report analyzes which ten humanitarian crises garnered the least media attention in 2025, amidst a globally escalating humanitarian situation.

The analysis is based on the content of over five million online articles. While conflicts in Gaza, Sudan, and Ukraine dominated headlines in 2025, numerous other crisis regions remained largely invisible. The report aims to shed light on the reasons for this and examine the consequences for those affected by these crises.

During the event, CARE will delve into why certain humanitarian situations fall outside the global spotlight. The discussion will also explore the roles of media, policymakers, and civil society in ensuring greater attention to the plight of millions.

Participants in the briefing include Karl-Otto Zentel, Secretary General of CARE Deutschland; Andrea Barschdorf-Hager, Managing Director of CARE Austria; Charlene Pellsah Ambali, Deputy Country Director for CARE Zimbabwe; and Hans Das, Deputy Director-General and Chief Operating Officer for Disaster Prevention and Humanitarian Aid at the European Commission's DG ECHO. Kelly Muthusi, CARE's Regional Communications Associate for East and Central Africa, will moderate.
