CareSource Completes Acquisition of Commonwealth Care Alliance

CareSource, a non-profit managed care organization, has officially completed its acquisition of Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA). The move is intended to strengthen healthcare services for individuals in Massachusetts facing significant health challenges, uniting two mission-driven organizations.

CCA members and patients will continue to receive care from their established teams and providers. CareSource stated that its expanded resources and expertise will enhance existing programs, including Senior Care Options (SCO) and One Care plans. CCA, which serves nearly 50,000 Massachusetts residents often dealing with complex physical and mental health conditions as well as social determinants of health, will operate under the CareSource family of brands.

"The CareSource and Commonwealth Care Alliance partnership ensures that residents of Massachusetts with complex health needs continue to have access to high-quality health care," said Erhardt Preitauer, president and CEO of CareSource. He also acknowledged the support of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services and Governor Healey throughout the process.

CareSource brings over 35 years of experience in Medicaid managed care, serving more than two million members across 13 states. CCA's President & CEO Chris Palmieri will be departing the organization as part of a planned transition.
