Cargill Details Five Agricultural Strategies Against Climate Change
Agricultural giant Cargill has outlined five strategies to combat climate change by leveraging agriculture and its related sectors, focusing on sustainable practices and reduced emissions.

Agricultural conglomerate Cargill has detailed five key strategies employed to address climate change, focusing on transforming practices within agriculture and its associated industries. These initiatives aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance the resilience of the global food system.
The company highlights the intricate link between agriculture and climate change, noting that agriculture, food production, and transportation collectively contribute significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions. Simultaneously, climate change poses a threat to agricultural productivity through extreme weather patterns and water scarcity, thereby impacting food security worldwide.
Regenerative agriculture is presented as a core solution. This encompasses practices such as reduced tillage, no-till farming, and the use of cover crops, which are designed to improve soil health and sequester carbon from the atmosphere. Cargill supports these methods through programs like RegenConnect® in the United States, ReSolu in Brazil, and SRISHTI in India.
Furthermore, Cargill is working to mitigate the environmental impact of beef production through its BeefUp Sustainability initiative, which assists producers in lowering emissions and the effects of land use. The company is also exploring wind propulsion for its ocean transportation, demonstrated by the Pyxis Ocean vessel that utilizes large wing sails to decrease fuel consumption and emissions.
