Cargill donates $115 million to food access initiatives

Global food company Cargill has allocated $115 million to strengthen food systems, provide humanitarian relief, and build resilient communities worldwide. This contribution addresses recent global challenges, including conflicts, natural disasters, and elevated food prices.

Cargill employees are actively involved in their local communities during the "food season," which runs from September through year-end. Volunteer efforts include distributing food, donating personal care items, planting food gardens, and providing nutrition education. Examples of these initiatives have been reported in Costa Rica, Ghana, Thailand, the United States, Honduras, China, Nicaragua, Singapore, Canada, and Hungary.

Additionally, Cargill supported earthquake survivors in Türkiye by launching the Adiyaman Food Bank, which will provide assistance to 1,500 families monthly for two years. The company collaborates with organizations such as CARE, Feeding America, World Central Kitchen, and the World Food Programme to enhance food security and ensure rapid crisis response.

Cargill highlights the increasing importance of food banks in the face of population growth and rising demand. The company aims to foster stronger, more resilient communities through its food-related projects.
