Cargill Doubles Capacity at Deventer Plant for Specialty Coatings
Cargill is doubling production capacity at its Deventer, Netherlands facility dedicated to specialty coatings and fillings. The investment aims to meet growing demand and provide cost-effective solutions for customers.

Cargill is expanding its specialty coatings and fillings production by doubling the capacity at its dedicated facility in Deventer, Netherlands. The strategic expansion is designed to meet increasing customer demand for cost-effective solutions that maintain consumer appeal while protecting profit margins.
The Deventer plant, exclusively focused on coatings and fillings, is enhancing its capabilities for non-standard powders and flavors. It is also introducing new processes for handling fats with varying melting points, as well as cocoa powders and sugar replacers. This expansion will facilitate the production of products such as no-palm oil coatings and fillings, and Cargill's new Nextcoa™ confectionery alternative, developed with Voyage Foods and made from grape seeds and sunflower.
The upgraded facility will also enable the production of chunk inclusions and compound solutions for customers requiring "nut-free" claims. The plant features segregated production lines to ensure compliance, with one line dedicated to nut-free products and another for items containing hazelnuts. These lines are optimized for efficiency and increased volume.
Cargill's specialization at the Deventer site ensures innovations can significantly impact end products, enhancing visual appeal or sensory experience. Customers can leverage the facility's flexible laboratories for developing new flavors and textures. Additionally, they can collaborate with plant technicians on recipe development and receive on-site support, with access to an expert sensory panel at the House of Chocolate® facility in Mouscron, Belgium.
