Cargill Introduces EpiCor® Postbiotic Ingredient in North America

Cargill has introduced its EpiCor® postbiotic ingredient to the North American market, aiming to support immune and gut health. EpiCor is derived from the fermentation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a type of baker's yeast, and contains a blend of metabolites and other bioactive compounds clinically shown to benefit immune function.

The ingredient is formulated for use in dietary supplements, adult nutrition products, and pet food. Cargill highlights EpiCor's stability and ease of formulation compared to probiotics, along with a low daily dose requirement, a three-year shelf life, and various certifications including Non-GMO Project Verified, OU Kosher, and Vegan.

Cargill notes that EpiCor is backed by over 15 published studies and positions it as the leading postbiotic ingredient in terms of product formulations. The company cites the ingredient's origin story, stemming from observations of reduced sick days among factory workers, as a foundational element of its development.
