Cargill updates soy supply chain monitoring in Brazil

Agricultural company Cargill has implemented stricter oversight procedures for its soy supply chain in Brazil. The company now utilizes automated systems to cross-reference potential suppliers against government lists of embargoed farms and those non-compliant with the Amazon Soy Moratorium and the Green Grain Protocol.

Under these updated procedures, if a farm is flagged for violations—such as illegal land clearing or social non-compliance—Cargill extends the procurement block to other properties under the same ownership. This measure is intended to mitigate risks associated with supply chain irregularities and ensure stricter adherence to the company's Supplier Code of Conduct.

Cargill has participated in the Brazilian Soy Moratorium since 2006, a voluntary industry agreement that prohibits the purchase of soy grown on land deforested after 2008 in the Amazon biome. The company continues to monitor these supply chains as part of its stated commitment to reducing deforestation.
