Cargill's EpiCor® Postbiotic Supports Children's Immune Health in New Study

Cargill has released findings from a new clinical study suggesting its EpiCor® postbiotic ingredient can support immune health in children. The research, conducted in partnership with KGK Science and published in the journalPediatric Research, is the first clinical study to evaluate EpiCor® in a gummy supplement format for this age group.

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved 256 Canadian children aged 4-12. During the traditional cold and flu season, children receiving a daily 500mg dose of EpiCor® reported statistically significant reductions in the severity of cold and flu symptoms compared to a placebo group. This included improvements in sore throat and muscle aches, and a reduced need for medication.

The study also confirmed that the daily 500mg dose of EpiCor® was safe and well-tolerated by the healthy children participating. These findings extend previous research on EpiCor®'s benefits, which have previously focused on supporting immune health and modulating the gut microbiome in adult populations.

Cargill stated the results underscore its commitment to science-backed health solutions and highlight the suitability of EpiCor® for gummy delivery formats, aligning with consumer preferences for easily consumed supplements.
