Kharkiv, Ukraine – A Russian missile strike on Kharkiv over the weekend resulted in the death of a Caritas Ukraine employee and the injury of her ten-year-old son. The attack also completely destroyed the woman's home.

Oliver Müller, director of Caritas International, expressed the organization's deep shock over the loss of their colleague. The woman had been working as a social worker providing medical assistance since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. She had previously fled her hometown of Vovchansk to Kharkiv.

"This relentless war spares no one," Müller stated, emphasizing that Caritas personnel are exposed to dangers daily. Reports from the region also indicate other significant damage, including the destruction of the last functioning gas station in Kharkiv on July 26.

In separate incidents, another worker was reported killed in a Russian drone attack in the Donetsk region. Ukraine's railway authority stated that the drone targeted railway workers repairing damaged infrastructure, with two others sustaining shrapnel injuries.
