Carnival Begins Construction on New Cruise Ship Carnival Destiny

Carnival Cruise Line has officially begun construction on its newest ship, Carnival Destiny, the first in its next-generation Ace class. The traditional steel-cutting ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, on Friday.

Carnival Destiny is the first of three new ships scheduled for delivery starting in Summer 2029. The vessel is set to redefine the guest experience at sea upon its completion.

The ship will feature an unprecedented number of ocean-view balcony cabins, a redesigned promenade deck, and over 4.5 acres of glass structures. These elements aim to expand sea views from more areas onboard and deepen guests' connection with the ocean.

More than 70 percent of the ship's venues and entertainment offerings will be new concepts for Carnival, including updated dining, new bar and lounge concepts, and immersive entertainment experiences.

"Carnival Destiny continues a legacy that once changed the cruise industry and redefines the guest experience at sea," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. "With this new ship, we are raising the bar again for the guest experience – creating more openness, deeper connection, and ultimately, more fun."
