Indian online auto platform CarTrade has entered into a strategic partnership with used car retailer Spinny. The collaboration aims to transform the process of buying and selling pre-owned vehicles by combining CarTrade's extensive user base with Spinny's physical and operational capabilities.

CarTrade CEO Vinay Sanghi stated during the company's Q1 FY27 earnings call that the partnership will enable the launch of a "one-click" model for buying and selling used cars. Currently, selling used cars in India often involves separate offline negotiations and arrangements between buyers and sellers. The new model seeks to eliminate these barriers by offering an integrated digital and physical process.

For CarTrade, the partnership brings its massive user base, which accounts for a significant portion of India's car sellers and buyers. Spinny, in turn, provides substantial physical infrastructure, including garages, inspection centers, and delivery vans. This combination offers consumers access to a wider inventory of inspected cars while ensuring vehicle delivery.

The company is shifting from a listing-fee-based revenue model to a transaction-based one, taking a commission on each car sold. This transition also allows for the integration of ancillary services, such as car loans, directly into the purchasing process. CarTrade has also launched its proprietary AI platform, VAYA AI, to enhance the personalization and efficiency of the buying experience.
