CaseBioscience Joins ARPA-H Team for Room-Temperature Cell Therapy Preservation
CaseBioscience is part of a multidisciplinary team awarded up to $7.3 million by ARPA-H to advance room-temperature preservation of cell therapies. The project aims to eliminate cold chain dependency.

FORT COLLINS, Colorado, October 2, 2026 – CaseBioscience has joined a multidisciplinary team led by Likarda that has been awarded up to $7.3 million by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). The funding is part of ARPA-H's BioStabilization Systems (BoSS) program, which seeks to advance new technologies for producing, storing, and shipping cell therapies at ambient temperatures without refrigeration.
The BoSS program aims to make advanced biological medicines as easy to ship and store as common pharmaceuticals, thereby removing reliance on cold chain logistics. CaseBioscience is one of only three selected teams participating in this pioneering program. Their project, Reversible Ambient Biostabilization (RAB), brings together expertise in areas such as preservation science, cell biology, and bioengineering.
CaseBioscience, along with other team members such as Draper and CPSI Biotech, is expected to develop novel methods for stabilizing living cell therapy drugs at room temperature. This breakthrough has the potential to significantly reduce the complex logistical arrangements and costs associated with cold chains, thereby improving access to these potentially life-changing treatments globally.
The initiative, initially spanning 15 months, aims to overcome the accessibility barriers for cell therapies currently limited by cold chain requirements. If successful, the development of this technology could offer a transformative solution for healthcare logistics.
