CaseBioscience Joins Team Receiving Up to $7.3 Million from ARPA-H for Cell Therapy Storage

FORT COLLINS, Colorado – CaseBioscience announced its participation in a multidisciplinary team led by Likarda, which has been awarded up to $7.3 million in funding from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). The funding, part of ARPA-H's BioStabilization Systems (BoSS) program, will support the development of technologies for storing cell therapies at room temperature.

The BoSS program aims to foster new technologies for the manufacturing, storage, and transportation of cells at ambient temperatures, eliminating the need for refrigeration. The goal is to make advanced biological medicines as easy to ship and store as common over-the-counter drugs.

The team, named Reversible Ambient Biostabilization (RAB), is one of only three selected for the BoSS program. It combines expertise from CaseBioscience, Likarda, Draper, CPSI Biotech, Fresenius Kabi, and others, covering fields from preservation science and cell biology to bioengineering.

Many cell-based therapies, particularly for conditions like cancer, require complex and costly cold chain logistics to maintain viability. Developing technologies that stabilize therapeutic cells at room temperature could significantly simplify distribution, overcome logistical hurdles, and broaden access to these advanced treatments.
