Cat food startup Smylo negotiates 30 crore funding round

Smylo, a direct-to-consumer cat food brand founded in 2024, is in late-stage negotiations to secure 30 crore rupees (approximately $3.2 million) in a funding round composed of equity and debt. Sources indicate that the financing will likely introduce a new venture capital firm to the company’s cap table, with existing investor DSG Consumer Partners expected to participate further.

The startup intends to deploy the fresh capital toward research and development, new product launches, and the construction of internal manufacturing facilities. Smylo currently distributes its range of wet food, dry food, and broths through its website and various quick-commerce platforms, including Blinkit and Zepto.

The move follows a pattern of heightened investment in India’s pet care sector, driven by a market expected to reach $24.8 billion by 2032. Other industry players, including Lickicious and Supertails, have recently raised capital to expand their production and supply chain capabilities, reflecting sustained institutional confidence in the segment.
