Catana Ocean Class completes 900-mile high-speed sea trial
Catana Group's new Ocean Class catamaran has completed its first high-speed sea trial. The test involved a 900-nautical mile voyage under simulated blue water cruising conditions.

French manufacturer Catana Group has concluded the inaugural high-speed sea trial for its new Ocean Class catamaran. The voyage, spanning over 900 nautical miles, subjected the vessel to testing under typical blue water cruising load conditions, including seven people aboard, substantial water and fuel reserves, and full equipment.
The trial aimed to evaluate the catamaran's sailing performance across various conditions, assess its offshore safety in challenging weather, and gauge the onboard living experience for a crew. Particular attention was paid to validating the expanded living spaces and habitable volumes designed for extended voyages.
During the trial, the boat was manned by a full crew, comprising a skipper, first mate, onboard videographer, cook, doctor, and two other watch leaders. This setup provided a realistic environment to test the yacht's ability to maintain comfort and functionality during long transits.
Catana is recognized for its luxury catamarans, and the Ocean Class represents the company's focus on delivering vessels that combine performance, safety, and comfort for demanding sailors undertaking long-distance cruising.
