Chinese battery manufacturer CATL has opened its largest battery lifecycle service center outside Asia in Oslo. The 8,000 square meter facility will serve Norway and the Nordic region, supporting the growing electric vehicle fleet and circular economy efforts.

Chinese battery manufacturer CATL expanded its European battery lifecycle service network by opening its largest service center outside Asia in Oslo on September 24, 2026. The 8,000 square meter facility will serve Norway and the entire Nordic region, offering battery testing, maintenance, repair, and recycling services.
Norway's strong electric vehicle market, where battery electric vehicles accounted for 98.7% of new passenger car registrations in August, creates a growing demand for battery diagnostics, repair, and extended lifespan services. CATL's NING SERVICE center aims to meet this demand across the entire battery lifecycle, encompassing testing, maintenance, repair, insurance, second-life use, and recycling.
CATL is working to shift the aftermarket from battery replacement to repair, reducing turnaround times for complex repairs. The center will also support emerging electrified applications, including marine vessels, eVTOL aircraft, and robotics. The service network is expanding with a goal of reaching 10,000 service locations in 100 countries by 2030.
The facility will also serve as a local training hub for technicians in the Nordic region, in collaboration with local educational institutions. CATL is committed to circular economy principles, aiming to keep batteries in use for as long as possible and to efficiently recover their materials.
