Caturus Plans Near Doubling of Commonwealth LNG Capacity

Caturus LLC announced on September 15, 2026, plans to significantly increase the planned capacity of its Commonwealth LNG facility. The company intends to raise the total capacity to 17.25 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), up from the previously planned 10.5 Mtpa.

The expansion project will involve adding 7.75 Mtpa of new liquefaction capacity. Caturus stated that this move is intended to open up a significant new tranche of long-term supply for global buyers. The announcement was made in Houston during the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial.

This expansion is expected to address the growing global demand for liquefied natural gas. It positions Caturus to offer enhanced supply capabilities to the international market. Further details regarding the project's timeline, investment, and regulatory approvals are anticipated.
