CB Insights: 10 Repeat Founders Launch New Insurtech Companies in 2026

CB Insights has identified ten founders with prior startup experience who have launched seven new insurtech companies in 2026. These entrepreneurs are focusing on transforming the insurance sector by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and addressing emerging risks, bringing diverse backgrounds from satellite methane detection to consumer lending.

The founders' previous ventures span various industries, including satellite methane detection, medical billing, compliance software, and consumer lending. Only two of the ten have prior experience founding insurance companies specifically. The new companies are building solutions across the entire insurance stack, from underwriting and claims to distribution and risk management.

Investments are split between fixing old workflows and insuring new risks. Dearborn Labs, WriteRisk, Recourse Health, and Coveresy are using AI to enhance traditional insurance processes like underwriting and claims. In contrast, Ollive and WaniWani are targeting new markets, such as liability arising from AI systems and insurance offered through AI assistants.

Several of these companies are already demonstrating significant traction. WaniWani has raised $8.7 million and its application is the first insurer-built app approved on ChatGPT by OpenAI. OmniGeo was selected for a federally funded accelerator program focused on wildfire resilience. CB Insights highlights that a key opportunity in insurtech over the next three to five years is shifting from loss payment to proactive loss reduction.
