Groq, which previously saw its founder and core technology transition to NVIDIA, has secured $350 million in a new funding round, valuing the company at $3.5 billion. This capital injection follows a December deal where NVIDIA licensed Groq's technology and hired its founder and engineering team. Including a $650 million raise in June 2026, Groq's total funding since the NVIDIA deal now reaches $1 billion. The company operates 13 data centers globally, serving over 6 million developers and thousands of businesses, with the new funds earmarked for expansion in 2027.
The analysis also highlights the acquisition of Virtue AI, an AI governance and safety platform, by cybersecurity firm Fortinet. Virtue AI was recognized on CB Insights' 2026 AI 100 list. This move signals the rapid maturation of the AI security category, which has become a target for M&A within three years.
