CD Valet report indicates rising certificate of deposit rates

The Federal Reserve has opted to keep interest rates steady amid ongoing inflationary pressures. Despite this federal policy, the market for certificates of deposit (CDs) is seeing significant upward movement, according to new data from financial tracker CD Valet.

The analysis, which tracks approximately 41,000 CD products, reveals that 92 percent of rate changes over the past week were increases. This shift suggests that financial institutions are proactively adjusting their offerings to attract deposits, decoupling their retail rate strategies from the central bank’s current baseline.

Market observers point to this data as evidence of aggressive competition among banks seeking to bolster their liquidity positions. As financial institutions compete for individual depositors, rates on high-yield products have continued to climb, providing an alternative landscape for savers regardless of federal policy inaction.
