Cellectis and Thermo Fisher Scientific Sign Agreements on TALEN Gene Editing Technology

Cellectis and Thermo Fisher Scientific announced on June 5, 2014, that they have entered into a series of agreements regarding TAL nucleases, branded as TALEN™.

Under these agreements, Thermo Fisher Scientific is granted a worldwide license to Cellectis' rights concerning TAL nucleases outside the therapeutic field. Thermo Fisher holds exclusive rights to grant sublicenses for research and development, bioproduction, and certain applied markets. The company currently markets TALEN™ for these applications under its Life Technologies brand.

Cellectis, in turn, receives a worldwide license to Thermo Fisher Scientific's rights to TAL nucleases within the research and development field for internal and collaborative research. This license also covers the commercialization of TAL gene editing for Cellectis Bioresearch's products and services, as well as for Cellectis Plant Sciences' internal and collaborative research and development in plant biotechnology.

Furthermore, Cellectis is granted a worldwide license for therapeutic research and development, including the right to further develop the technology in these areas. This collaboration is expected to accelerate the development of new therapies based on Cellectis' core technology.
