Cellectis Appoints Carrie Brownstein as Chief Medical Officer

New York (N.Y.) – Cellectis, a biopharmaceutical company focused on gene-edited allogeneic CAR T-cell immunotherapies (UCART), announced the appointment of Carrie Brownstein, M.D., as Chief Medical Officer. In her new role, Dr. Brownstein will be responsible for overseeing clinical research and development across Cellectis' UCART clinical trial programs.

The appointment comes as Cellectis advances its pipeline of three proprietary product candidates through clinical studies. Dr. Brownstein joins the company from Celgene, where she held significant roles in hematology and myeloid diseases, most recently as Vice President of Global Clinical Research and Development and Therapeutic Area Head for myeloid diseases.

Prior to her tenure at Celgene, Dr. Brownstein was Executive Director of Clinical Sciences Oncology at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, leading early-stage development programs. She also held positions of increasing responsibility at Hoffman-La Roche (Roche Pharmaceuticals), contributing to the development and approval of various hematology and oncology therapies.

Before her industry career, Dr. Brownstein practiced medicine as a pediatric oncologist at major New York institutions, including New York Presbyterian Columbia University and Mount Sinai Medical Center. She earned her M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her fellowship in pediatric hematology and oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Cellectis aims to bring its allogeneic CAR T-cell therapies to patients. Dr. Brownstein's extensive experience in clinical development and regulatory affairs is expected to be crucial in advancing the company's product candidates towards commercialization and addressing unmet medical needs in oncology.
