Cellectis reports Q2 financial results and new cancer treatment pipeline
Cellectis, a gene-editing company focused on cell therapies, announced its second-quarter financial results and provided updates on its oncology pipeline, including new preclinical programs.

Cellectis, a gene-editing company developing allogeneic CAR T-cell therapies and gene therapies for genetic diseases, released its financial results for the second quarter and the first six months of 2021 on August 5. The company reported a cash position of $257 million as of June 30, 2021, with a projected cash runway into early 2023.
The company continued to enroll patients in its three sponsored Phase 1 clinical trials for UCART22 (B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia), UCART123 (acute myeloid leukemia), and UCARTCS1 (multiple myeloma). Preliminary translational data from the UCARTCS1 program in multiple myeloma showed promise, indicating CS1 as a potential target for allogeneic CAR T-cells.
At its May 2021 Innovation Days event, Cellectis unveiled new, wholly-owned preclinical CAR T-cell programs. These include UCART20x22 for B-cell malignancies and programs targeting solid tumors: UCARTMESO, UCARTMUC1, and UCARTFAP. Cellectis anticipates filing investigational new drug (IND) applications for UCART20x22 and UCARTMESO in 2022.
Furthermore, Cellectis is advancing its .HEAL gene therapy platform for genetic disorders. The lead candidate, TALGlobin01, targets sickle cell disease and is also slated for an IND filing in 2022. The company also plans to expand its internal manufacturing capabilities to enhance production autonomy.
