CellFiber Opens US Subsidiary in Philadelphia to Scale Cell Therapy Manufacturing
Japanese biotechnology firm CellFiber has established its first international subsidiary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The new entity aims to accelerate the scalable manufacturing of induced pluripotent stem cells, mesenchymal stromal cells, and CAR-T cell therapies in the US.

CellFiber Co., Ltd., a biotechnology company based in Tokyo, has opened its first international subsidiary, CellFiber, Inc., in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The new office and laboratory space at CIC Philadelphia commenced operations on October 1, 2026. The subsidiary is intended to support US-based biopharmaceutical companies, contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs), and research institutions in adopting CellFiber® 3D cell culture technology for cell and gene therapies (CGT).
Limited global access to cell and gene therapies stems largely from complex and expensive manufacturing processes. Developers of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC), mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC), and CAR-T therapies require technologies capable of producing high-quality cells consistently, efficiently, and at commercial scale under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
CellFiber's Philadelphia site will serve as a base for delivering its products and services to US customers. The company plans to enhance collaborations with biopharma companies, CDMOs, and academic institutions. Through the new facility, CellFiber will offer support for technology adoption, process development, scale-up, and collaborative research and development for stem cell and immune cell therapy programs.
"We are excited to establish our first international site in Philadelphia, a city often called 'Cellicon Valley' for its concentration of cell and gene therapy innovation," said Kazuchika Furuishi, President and CEO of CellFiber. "This location enables direct engagement with teams developing cell therapies and will help take our technology global."
