CenterPoint Energy Completes Sale of Ohio Natural Gas Business for $2.62 Billion
CenterPoint Energy has finalized the sale of its Ohio natural gas business to National Fuel Gas Company for $2.62 billion. The transaction includes approximately 5,900 miles of gas pipelines serving about 335,000 customers.

HOUSTON, Oct. 1, 2026 – CenterPoint Energy, Inc. has completed the sale of its Ohio natural gas local distribution company, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, LLC, to National Fuel Gas Company for $2.62 billion.
The sale encompasses approximately 5,900 miles of gas transmission and distribution pipeline serving an estimated 335,000 metered customers in West Central Ohio. National Fuel Gas will assume immediate responsibility for serving these customers.
The transaction received all necessary federal and state regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. CenterPoint Energy's Chair and CEO Jason Wells expressed gratitude to the employees involved in the Ohio business.
Wells stated that the proceeds from the sale will support the company's long-term strategy, including its $66.7 billion, 10-year capital plan. These investments are intended to enhance the resiliency and reliability of its infrastructure across its core utility footprint.
